Job Overview

Radiology Technologist – PRN at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, Aiken, South Carolina. Responsible for performing radiologic procedures, assisting physicians, and maintaining daily operations of the Radiology department.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and perform radiological, paramedical, and clerical duties required in patient care.
• Work under direction of Radiology Supervisor and physicians, primarily responsible for daily operations of Radiology department.
• Prepare room, equipment, contrast media, and materials for procedures; maintain clean and stocked X‑Ray procedure room daily.
• Warm X‑Ray equipment daily and ensure it is working properly; notify appropriate personnel if issues occur.
• Prepare patient for X‑ray procedure – explain procedure, transfer patient to examination table, position patient correctly, assist patient at end of procedure.
• Send images to PACS appropriately and verify all are available for timely interpretation.
• Perform general clerical and transportation duties when needed.
• Practice patient care according to ARMC policy; assist radiologists during procedures and take films as requested.
• Know proper sequence of scheduling exams for Radiology department.
• Consider age-related factors when obtaining images or performing imaging studies; apply knowledge appropriately to patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
• Accept additional work during low patient activity periods; demonstrate willingness to assist others within department.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all data, records, forms, reports, and procedures 100% of the time.
• Implement radiation safety procedures with radiation-producing equipment 100% of the time.
• Maintain measurements described in the Universal Protocol policy.
• Ensure patient charges entered accurately into EHR in a timely manner.
• Assist physicians in managing emergency situations.
• Operate portable X‑Ray and C‑Arm machines in inpatient and operating room settings.
• Attend all monthly staff meetings unless absent or excused by Radiology Supervisor.
• Obtain and correctly document verbal and phone orders per facility policy (for ARRT licensed staff).
• Rotate to other imaging departments as needed; participate in holiday and on‑call rotation requirements.

Qualifications

• Education: Successful completion of a radiological program or equivalent military training.
• Work Experience: BLS (or obtain within 90 days of employment).
• Licenses/Certifications: Current ARRT and South Carolina license or Temporary B license issued by SC Radiation Quality Standards Association; Current RT registration or registration eligible with successful completion within 90 days.
• Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to perform radiologic procedures, maintain equipment, ensure patient safety, and follow departmental protocols.
