Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Radiology Technologist in Austin, TX to perform X-ray, CT, and MRI imaging. You will position patients, operate imaging equipment, and ensure image quality for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, following physicians' orders, administering contrast when appropriate, and maintaining accurate records. The role reports to the Director of Radiology and supports a multidisciplinary clinical team.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in radiology or medical imaging.
  • Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field (preferred).
  • Three years of experience as Radiology Tech or in a similar role (preferred).
  • Certification in MRI or CT imaging (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Explain imaging procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
  • Position radiographic equipment at the correct angle and height over the appropriate area of the patient’s body.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during imaging procedures.
  • Operate radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce images for diagnostic purposes.
  • Follow physicians’ orders and conform to regulations concerning radiation use.
  • Administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice.
  • Review and evaluate developed X-rays or images for diagnostic quality.
  • Perform quality control checks on imaging equipment and maintain patient records.
  • Monitor patients’ conditions and reactions during and after imaging procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain a clean imaging suite and necessary supplies.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Education

Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or related field
Two (2) years of relevant experience in radiology or medical imaging
Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology or related field
Three (3) years of experience as Radiology Tech or similar role
Certification in MRI or CT imaging
