Job Objective

Under the direction of the Section Supervisor, Assistant Director, and Director of Radiology Services, the Radiology Technologist II performs a wide variety of radiographic procedures and complex duties requiring a high degree of accuracy, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment. Promotes, follows, and adheres to the values set by AVH. Provides technical assistance in planning, organizing, and controlling workflow to accomplish department objectives. Ensures the delivery of quality customer service that meets or exceeds expectations for patients, physicians, physician office staff, and visitors.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ability to stand for 95% of the time and assist in lifting patients weighing over 200 pounds from stretchers and wheelchairs.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, walking, standing, and exerting push/pull force regularly throughout a shift.
  • Prepare room, equipment, and materials for radiographic procedures.
  • Greet, identify, introduce yourself to patients, and escort them to and from exam rooms.
  • Prepare patients for exams, discuss procedures, and explain procedures to patients.
  • Perform radiographic exams using proper techniques.
  • Position patients safely and properly for exams.
  • Assist patients before, during, and after procedures; prepare contrast materials as required.
  • Monitor patients and equipment during exams, ensuring the department’s repeat rate standards are met.
  • Follow radiation protection guidelines for patient and staff safety while maintaining diagnostic image quality.
  • Perform radiographic procedures in various settings including OR, ER, nursing floors, and portable procedures.
  • Be flexible to work in any area as needed by the department.
  • Evaluate radiographs for quality.
  • Utilize good technical and patient skills.
  • Handle injured patients with proper work methods.
  • Understand age-specific needs and participate in related educational programs.
Non-Essential Duties
  • Transfer patients to and from radiology.
  • Schedule exams as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Prepare rooms, equipment, and materials for procedures.
  • Follow radiation safety guidelines.
  • Knowledge of quality control and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Perform procedures in various departments and process exams efficiently.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Graduation from an ARRT-accredited Radiological Technology Program.
  • Preferred: 2 years hospital setting experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications
  • CRT State of California.
  • RT ARRT.
  • Fluoroscopy certification.
  • Venipuncture (preferred).
  • BLS certification.
