Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License and ARRT Certification/Registration or Temporary Massachusetts Rad Tech License (must pass ARRT within one year)
• Current BLS/CPR Certification
• Completion of two years post‑high school training in radiologic technology
• Knowledge of diagnostic radiology practices and the operation of radiologic equipment

Responsibilities

• Diagnostic Imaging: Perform appropriate studies in a timely manner, using proper positioning and exposure factors with the goal of using the lowest dose possible
• Set up equipment, provide quality radiographs for radiologists and colleagues, and perform duties as requested by leadership
• Perform exams on patients of all ages in all areas of Diagnostic Radiology
• Ensure best turnaround time for all ordered exams to reduce delays in care
• Exams to be performed as determined through established routine protocols
• Ensure exams ordered match reason, presentation, and patient history
• Patient Care and Safety: Prepare patients for exams, ensure safety, comfort, and modesty
• Always verify patient identifiers (name, DOB, MRN) before exams
• Monitor patient condition during exams and respond as needed
• Follow infection control and safety procedures using AIDET communication framework
• Document exams properly in RIS and PACS
• Maintain professionalism in person and on the phone
• Maintain licensure, certifications, CEUs and mandatory compliances

POSITION SUMMARY

As a BMC Radiologic Technologist, you will perform vital X-ray imaging for all trauma, inpatients and outpatients. These images will assist our providers to accurately diagnose and care for our patients. You will gain a wide range of experience using cutting-edge technology, while working collaboratively with other department staff and our own Radiology Team to help further BMC's mission of providing exceptional care for all.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnostic Imaging Perform appropriate studies in a timely manner, using proper positioning, technique and exposure factors as necessary and required, with a goal to use the lowest dose possible
• Set up equipment, provide quality radiographs for radiologists and other colleagues, and perform other duties as requested by the X-ray Lead, Supervisor, Manager, and Radiology Director
• Perform exams on patients of all ages as required in all areas that Diagnostic Radiology is located and needed
• Ensures best turnaround time for all ordered exams to reduce delays in care
• Exams to be performed as determined through our established routine protocols.
• Ensuring that exams ordered match the reason for exam and patient presentation, condition and history.
• Patient Care and Safety Prepare patients for exams, ensuring their safety, comfort, and modesty at all times
• Always checking patient identifiers to validate correct patient name, DOB, MRN, correct exam and laterality ordered, every time
• Monitor each patient’s condition during exams, taking appropriate action when assistance is needed
• Follow established hospital infection control and safety procedures and use AIDET communication framework
• Administrative Document exams properly in Radiology Information System and PACS to ensure all details and required information is included
• Maintain professionalism with in-person interactions and also conduct proper phone etiquette with all staff, c0-workers, visitors and patients
• Maintain licensure, certifications, CEUs and annual mandatory compliances

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Current or the ability to obtain one of the following licensure/certifications prior to start date: Both the Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License and ARRT Certification and Registration or Temporary Massachusetts Rad Tech License (must pass the national ARRT registry exam within one year and then apply for and receive permanent Massachusetts licensure within the one year)
• Current BLS/CPR Certification or the ability to obtain one prior to start date
• Completion of two years post‑high school training in an approved school of radiologic technology
• Knowledge of the principles and procedures of diagnostic radiology practices and the operation of radiologic equipment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ROLE EXPECTATIONS

• One year of Radiologic Technology work experience in a hospital preferred
• Maintain all Continuing Education Units
• Excellent communication skills and initiative
