Summary

Performs diagnostic imaging examinations on patients, ensuring the production of quality diagnostic images. Operates equipment to produce diagnostic images according to patient cases and relevant guidelines; ensures the quality of images is satisfactory for clinical purposes.

Job Description

1. Ensures accurate patient positioning during radiographic procedures; conducts image operations according to provider requests and other technical factors.
2. Implements radiation safety guidelines and conducts proper radiation protection practices during the imaging process.
3. Delivers excellent patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.
4. Ability to understand and navigate the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
5. Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned.
6. Sanford Rural Health Network Facility sites may expand job responsibilities based on the needs of the facility, to include, but not limited to: on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays.
7. Perform diagnostic radiology procedures and basic diagnostic radiology tasks.
8. May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.
9. Occupational Medicine clinics may have expanded job duties based on facility needs including performing routine testing and sampling.

Qualifications

1. Completion of an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
2. Working knowledge of diagnostic radiographic principles, including radiographic positioning, film/image processing, quality control, and radiation protection is required.
3. Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
4. If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure with the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board (NDMIRT) is required.
5. If working at some clinic locations, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification may be required within the first eight weeks of hire into the position.
6. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
