Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a full-time Radiographer at Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital in Illinois. The position is 40 hours weekly with a Monday–Friday schedule from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm, including holidays and on-call requirements.

The Radiographer will perform diagnostic imaging, follow approved protocols, and maintain patient safety throughout the imaging process. The role requires graduation from an accredited Radiology Technologist Program, ARRT Radiography (R), IEMA

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist Program.
• ARRT Radiography (R) certification.
• IEMA Accreditation or equivalent state credential.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains patient safety throughout the imaging process, including screening, preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure care.
• Produces diagnostic-quality images using approved protocols and professional standards.
• Apply professional judgment within approved protocols to optimize image quality and address imaging challenges.
• Reviews images prior to exam completion and initiates corrective action when diagnostic adequacy is not met.
• Administers contrast in accordance with policy, including screening for contraindications and patient monitoring.
• Operates imaging equipment and maintains imaging room readiness.
• Identifies equipment performance issues and initiates follow-up through established service processes.
• Coordinates exam flow and prioritizes time-sensitive studies.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation in medical record and image archive system, including exam set-up, image routing, result availability and charging accuracy.
• Adheres to organizational values, ethical standards, and compliance requirements.
• Consistently upholds all applicable quality and safety standards within diagnostic imaging, such as radiation safety, MRI safety, Infection prevention measures safe practices to protect self, patients, visitors and team members
• Ensures a positive patient experience throughout care delivery
• Supports department initiatives to improve relationships, reliability, efficiency, growth
• Supports additional responsibilities aligned with patient care and department needs
