  • Review history and orders; educate patient on procedures and equipment.
  • Prepare/ administer contrast media when ordered; monitor patient status.
  • Prepare equipment; select exposure factors and imaging parameters; ensure safety and QC.
  • Troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions.

Job Description – GENERAL OVERVIEW

This job performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Position patient and perform imaging procedure(s).
  • Analyse results and identify issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enter, transmit, and report scan results. (40%)
  • Review patient history and physician's orders. Educate patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. (20%)
  • When ordered, prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitor patient condition continually and report/respond to changes in status as appropriate. (20%)
  • Prepare equipment and supplies. Select appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoot, resolve, and/or report equipment malfunctions as necessary. (20%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; OR six months to one-year related experience and/or training; OR equivalent education and experience.
  • Preferred Prior radiology experience.
ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) Radiography certification required within 6 months of hire. (Incumbents in role prior to April 2026 have 12 months to obtain ARRT certification)
  • CPR – American Heart Association.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
