Job Description

Outpatient Radiologic Technologist opportunity at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston Salem, NC.

Job Summary:
Performs diagnostic radiology procedures by utilizing equipment and employing techniques and procedures that are appropriate to the entire span of ages served in accordance with accepted standards of practice, and demonstrating expertise in limiting radiation exposure to patients and other members of the health care team.
Assists radiologists and other qualified staff physicians with invasive procedures, patient scheduling, clerical and image processing functions.

Education/Experience:

• Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
• Minimum six months experience as a diagnostic Radiologic Technologist preferred.
• One year experience with patients preferred.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:

• Registered and certified with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or registry eligible and must become registered within 12 months of hire.
• Certifications from other areas of specialty required.
• BLS Provider certification.

Essential Functions:

• Adheres to hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment, utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building. Follows policies and procedures, and participates in departmental training.
• Performs or assists in diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures in accordance with North Carolina Radiation Protection regulations. Maintains necessary education and credentials.
• Coordinates activities with others to achieve work objectives.
• Ensures emergency equipment and supplies are ready; recognizes and reacts to emergencies.
• Maintains knowledge of procedures, equipment, and systems; ensures supplies and equipment are available and ready.
• Ensures accurate patient records through correct data entry and image archiving.
• Performs point of care testing as assigned, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
• Provides instruction, education, and consultation to healthcare personnel and patients.
• Provides emergency on-call coverage after hours as needed.
• Delivers age-appropriate care according to guidelines for all age groups served.

• Ability to communicate professionally with physicians, nurses, and staff.
• Ability to manage daily schedules effectively.
• Clinical skills to recognize and respond to patient needs.
• Ability to adapt to workload changes and competing demands.
• Basic computer skills.
