Job summary

Avera Sacred Heart Hospital is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to operate radiographic and CT equipment, delivering diagnostically accurate images under physician direction. You will perform procedures, intervene when needed, and ensure data is complete for radiologist interpretation.

Responsibilities include using PACS/RIS/HIS EMR systems, archiving images, and maintaining safety and infection control while mentoring staff and handling records in compliance with standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or certificate in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school.
  • ARRT certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to work nights with rotating weekends and holidays.

  • Performs radiology procedures accurately, efficiently and according to established standards and protocols.
  • Initiates proper intervention to radiologist or referring practitioner when an exam indicates immediate attention.
  • Reviews indications for exams ordered and reports inappropriate indications to supervisor.
  • Provides exam data in a complete and accurate format for presentation to reading radiologist for interpretation.
  • Operates PACS, RIS, HIS EMR systems and performs general clerical duties.
  • Archives image data for permanent storage and sends images to radiologist group.
  • Retrieves stored images from PACS or disc backup and creates CDs.
  • Maintains department policies, safety, and infection control.
  • Assists/mentors staff with on-the-job training and orientations.
  • Assists with analysis, collection and maintenance of records per standards.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewAccountable for the proficient operations of the radiographic and CT equipment to provide clinically diagnostic images as directed by physicians.What you will doPerforms various radiology procedures accurately, efficiently and according to established standards and protocols.Initiates proper intervention to radiologist or referring practitioner when an exam indicates immediate attention.Reviews appropriate indications for exams ordered and reports inappropriate indications to supervisor.Provides exam data in a complete and accurate format for presentation to reading radiologist for interpretation.Utilizes computer systems such as PACS, RIS, HIS EMR systems and performs general clerical duties.Archives image data for permanent storage and appropriately sends images to radiologist group. Retrieves stored images form PACS or disc back-up and make CDs successfully.Demonstrates an understanding of medical and legal implications and responsibilities related to the imagine reports and images to protect the patient and the organization.Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, and environment and infection control.Assists/mentors staff/student with on the job training, clinical rotations and orientation.Assists with analysis, collection and maintenance of records as required by department manager, Quality Improvement, Joint Commission, MDH, ACR standards, OSHA guidelines or as may be required by the facility or law.Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified.
