TidalHealth Peninsula Orthopaedic Institute is seeking a Radiology Technologist to operate imaging equipment and produce diagnostic X-ray images. The role may require travel across Maryland and Delaware locations due to staffing needs.

Responsibilities include patient prep, image quality, confidentiality, and adherence to department protocols while supporting students and staff in a teaching environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology.
  • ARRT certification in radiologic technology.
  • Minimum one year radiology experience or completed clinical rotation.
  • Orthopaedic radiology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates DR/DDR/CR radiographic systems to obtain high-quality images.
  • Prepares patients and relocates them to exam rooms as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA/OSHA compliance.
  • Assists with image imports/exports and retrieves images from other facilities.
  • Supports department policies and patient safety standards.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology
ARRT (American Registry of Radiology Technologists)
1 year Radiology experience or clinical rotation
Orthopaedic experience preferred

Salary Range: $30.61 To $39.07 Hourly

Position Summary:

The position is on an as needed basis and based in the Salisbury location (Woodbrooke); however, due to staff shortages, vacations, ETC., travel is required for Maryland and Delaware locations as needed. The primary role of Radiology Technologists (also called an x-ray technologist or radiographer) is to operate medical imaging equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic x-ray images.

Position Responsibility:
  • Supports TidalHealth Peninsula Orthopaedic Institute’s vision, mission and values. Follows all policies and procedures
  • Maintains confidentiality for any and all information, including Protected Health Information (PHI), accessible while performing job duties
  • Maintains compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, IT Policy, patient safety standards and all other POA requirements
  • Prepares patients for radiographic procedures
  • Proficient in operating DR, DDR (as applicable) and CR Radiographic systems to produce accurate, high-quality diagnostic X-Ray images
  • Escorts ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients to their exam rooms
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of provider X-Ray protocol and accommodates special imaging requests
  • Supports organizational policies and procedures and initiatives related to the Radiology Department
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge
  • Answers interdepartmental and patient phone calls
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with patients, clinic staff, management and students to support quality patient care
  • Imports/ exports patient images. Request retrieval of images from other facilities
  • Adapts to staffing needs by working in satellite offices and supporting other departments as needed
  • Implements established THPOI fundamentals in performing job duties effectively and accurately
  • Participates in continuing education and other learning experiences
  • Other duties assigned by management
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiology Technologists)
  • Minimum of one year of Radiology Technology experience or completion of clinical student rotation
  • Previous Orthopaedic experience preferred
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, talk, reach and lift up to 50lbs

Essential Job Functions:
  • Provides compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Consistently obtains high-quality x-ray images
  • Contributes to all aspects of the imaging process: order verification, body part identification, console operations, provider protocol knowledge, efficient positioning instructions etc.
  • Patient Safety: locking wheelchairs, patient transfers, etc.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Epic by verifying imaging orders, updating exam status, utilizing media manager, routing documents, and searching for patient related information etc.
  • Burns, imports, and manages imaging CDs per company policy
  • Adheres to confidentiality policies
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of department workflow and electronic image retrieval processes
  • Promotes a supportive and welcoming learning environment for students by mentoring during exams, completing competencies and daily evaluations, etc.
Communication:
  • Is honest, straight forward and communicates with people professionally and directly
  • Communicates clearly, honestly and directly with radiology technologists, providers, management and clinic staff
  • Efficiently communicates patient positioning instructions
  • Informs team of changes in patient status, workflow delays or scheduling changes as needed
