Job summary

Treating Pain in Oxon Hill, MD is seeking a Radiology Technologist to operate radiologic equipment and produce radiographs that support diagnosis. The role involves preparing patients, positioning them correctly, setting exposure factors, and maintaining a safe procedure room.

In addition to following infection control measures, you will protect patients from radiation, manage supplies, and stay current with professional standards.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience in X-Ray.
• Graduate of Radiologic Technology program accredited by JRCERT.

• ARRT registration or equivalent credentialing agency.

Job description

The Radiology Technologist provides information to diagnose patient illnesses by operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
• Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
• Maintains procedure room supplies and inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
• Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
• Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
• Performs clerical and technical duties including, but not limited to: maintaining logs and assist with pulling patient consents for the next day procedures
• Understands, complies with, and enforces all NSPC policies, procedures, codes of conduct, and OSHA and HIPAA privacy rules.
• Adhere to and uphold all applicable federal and state compliance regulations as well as NSPC’s Code of Conduct and Employee Handbook, compliance policies and procedures, and applicable healthcare fraud, waste and abuse laws.

Qualifications and Skills

• Six months of experience in X-Ray and familiarity with routine medical procedures.
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of Radiologic Technology program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
• A valid and current license by the state in which employed, if state offers a licensing certification program.
• Valid and current registration with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or have valid and current registration with an equivalent Radiologic Technology credentialing agency.

Working Conditions

• Located in an ethical, fast-paced, clinical office environment with a noise level that is generally elevated.
• Periodic use of standard office equipment (including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, etc.).
• Regular use of clinical equipment (including autoclaves, c-arms, crash carts, intravenous therapy materials, etc.).
• Close and regular interactions with patients occur, which may result in exposure to blood borne pathogens and/or other diseases/infections. Appropriate infection control policies and procedures are practiced and enforced at all times to minimize any risks.

Physical Requirements

• Extensive and regular periods of sitting, standing, bending, walking, seeing, talking, and listening.
• A full range of body motion including complete manual and finger dexterity, as well as effective hand-eye coordination.
• Adequate visual acuity including ability to read information.
• A regular requirement to reach with hands/arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• A regular requirement to push, pull, lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
