Job Description
- Arrange patients for radiological exams
- Performs diagnostic radiological exams for use in diagnosis of disease
- Prevent patients from unnecessary radiation exposure
- Perform portable X-ray exams
- Develops exposed X-ray files
- Perform administrative duties as needed for patient instructions, film-filing, and maintenance of records
Job Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of approved Radiologic Technical program
- BXMO license for X-ray technicians
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
- Licensed/registered with the appropriate state agency
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Following principles of medical ethics for medical assistant
- Preparing patients for radiological procedures and take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety
- Assisting patients any time need is apparent or as directed by supervisory staff
- Performing medical assistant and radiological procedures
- Assisting the providers with patients, including preparing patients and the examination rooms; taking initial medical history for the chart, taking vital signs, and explaining the process to the patients
- Assisting provider in all special procedures, including minor surgery, as required
- Performing x-rays as directed by the provider
- Giving instructions to patients as instructed by provider
- Assisting with any procedures that have been taught through formal training or by physician
- Keeping medical records in accordance to procedures and forms
- Following HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality
- Keeping rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, washes and dries instruments used, and prepares sterilization as required
- Cleaning wounds, drawing labs, electrocardiograms and applying dressings and splints as directed by provider
- Assisting in lab procedures under the supervision of provider and for which training has been given. Other duties may consist of notifying patients of lab results, giving vaccines, immunizations and medications prescribed by the doctor; lab work consisting of throat cultures, hematocrits, and urinalysis.
- Receiving and handling phone calls
- Responsible for proper handling and storage of all medications stored in the office
- Knowledge of the physical and operational characteristics of radiologic equipment
- Knowledge of x-ray principles, procedures and standards
- Knowledge of sterile procedures
- Knowledge of appropriate x-ray exposure times and safety parameters
- Knowledge of photographic development techniques
- Must demonstrate the knowledge of the principle of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the Center’s policies and procedures
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, additional languages preferred
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the Center
- Ability to calibrate, configure, and adjust x-ray equipment and associated facilities and devices in accordance with procedures and standards
- Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
- Ability to safely lift, and physically manipulate patients
- Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, coworkers, and other health team members
HOURS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Our ASCs are located in Florida, Texas and California. All ASCs are open Monday through Friday. Work hours may be subject to change, depending on surgery schedule.
Hazards: Occasional contact with communicable diseases, electrical equipment, blood borne pathogens, etc.
Personal protective equipment: Provided if necessary (gowns, gloves, masks, head cover)
