Job summary

Chippenham Hospital is seeking a Radiology Technologist to perform high-quality radiographs using standard and portable equipment while adhering to safety guidelines. The role requires ARRT licensure and AMA-approved training, with BLS as a must. Preference given to candidates with at least one year of staff technologist experience.

You will contribute to efficient imaging workflows, ensure accurate documentation in PACS, and support the radiology team in providing excellent patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• ARRT licensure required.
• BLS certification required.
• Preferred: One-year as a staff technologist.

Responsibilities

• Obtains quality radiographs within acceptable timeframe.
• Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and PPE usage.
• Operates radiographic equipment safely and competently.
• Performs computer operations (Meditech, PACS) and verifies orders.
• Renders patient care in a professional manner.
• Prepares rooms and manages supplies; maintains cleanliness.

Job Summary and Qualifications

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*

1. Obtains quality radiographs of patients within the department as well as with portable equipment in an acceptable timeframe.
2. Complies with radiation safety guidelines for patient and self. Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment. Operates radiographic equipment safely and competently.
3. Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations (i.e. Meditech and PACS). Ensure proper charges are entered and referring physician’s orders are verified.
4. Renders patient care in a professional and courteous manner.
5. Prepares examination rooms for radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Monitors inventory of supplies during room rotation. Maintain room cleanliness and neat appearance of work areas and dressing rooms.
6. Assists the radiologist in administering medications, contrast agents and all types of care to the patient.
7. Reviews each exam for technical accuracy (i.e. markers on images, technical quality, anatomical positioning, annotation, etc.) and completes verification process in PACS.
8. Assists Diagnostic Supervisor with PACS clean up. i.e.: Clean CR plates, erase cassettes, close and send exams from workstations, etc.
9. Completes and maintains personal educational requirements.
10. Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to Policy and Procedure.

What qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION

REQUIRED: Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology. Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT for licensure

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

REQUIRED: American Registry of Radiologic Technology Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider

PREFERRED: Society of Radiologic Technology Preferred: Virginia Society of Radiologic Technology
