Job description

Position Summary: Working in an Urgent Care environment and under the supervision of the Practice Manager, the Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) is responsible for performing radiological exams, developing radiographic films, and coding diagnoses for encounter form completion. The Rad Tech also performs quality control on equipment and radiographic procedures to ensure high-quality patient care and films.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Greet and check in patients; acknowledge patient appointments using the computerized scheduling system; print daily schedules.
  2. Manage patient flow; escort patients to exam rooms.
  3. Prepare patients for radiologic examinations; perform radiographic procedures based on provider orders.
  4. Perform routine equipment start-up and quality control checks.
  5. Manage patient files; prepare requisition and encounter forms, pull and prepare x-ray jackets, and handle film copies for referrals.
  6. Photoprint and develop films; critique films for diagnostic quality and repeat as necessary; prepare films for radiologist interpretation.
  7. Conduct quality control testing; maintain logs and schedule maintenance visits.
  8. Maintain radiographic filing system; purge inactive files as per specifications.
  9. Perform housekeeping tasks; handle hazardous waste, stock exam rooms, sterilize and maintain equipment, and inventory supplies.
  10. Adhere to departmental policies and safety standards.
  11. Maintain courteous interactions with colleagues and patients.
  12. Understand job expectations and demonstrate competency.
  13. Commit to meeting customer needs and adhere to service standards.
  14. Participate in quality improvement activities and mandatory education.
  15. Perform other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an AMA-approved radiologic technology program.
  • Licensure and Certification: Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Radiation Control Program; registered or eligible for registration with ARRT.

Shift: Variable including weekends and holidays; 40 hours, full-time.
