Job summary

Southern TN Regional Health System - Lawrenceburg is seeking a Radiology Technician to support diagnostic imaging services. You will review orders, educate patients, and perform imaging with attention to safety and quality control.

The role requires an Associate's degree in radiology or related program, ARRT/General Radiology certification, and ability to work under pressure. BLS is preferred or can be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in radiology or related discipline.
  • Graduate of a program in discipline preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • BLS certification may be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Professional certification/license in General Radiology.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient history and physician orders; educate patient about procedures and exams.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media within scope; monitor patient condition and respond to changes.
  • Prepare equipment; select exposure factors and imaging parameters; perform QC and report malfunctions.
  • Implement safety standards and quality control procedures; troubleshoot equipment as needed.
  • Position patient and perform imaging; analyze results and report scans.

How you'll contribute

A Radiology Technician who excels in this role:

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

What we're looking for
  • Associate's degree in a disciplined program Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS may be obtained with 30 days of hire following orientation)

STRHS-Lawrenceburg, formerly Crockett Hospital, is a 99-bed, acute care facility located in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, 85 miles south of Nashville.

We have been providing the best healthcare in Lawrence County and surrounding counties in Southern Middle Tennessee since 1974. We expanded the facility and services in 1991 with the addition of an Outpatient Surgery Unit, a state-of-the-art 24-hour physician-staffed Emergency Department, and an Intensive Care Unit. The hospital opened a 10-bed Physical Rehabilitation Unit in 1997, and a Women's Health Center in 1999. Diagnostic imaging services include in-house MRI, Nuclear Medicine, CT, X-ray, Digital Mammography and Ultrasound. The Rehabilitation Unit provides Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapies. In 2009, a $5.6 million construction was completed which expanded the Emergency Department, Outpatient Surgery Unit and Registration area.
