Job summary

Alerion Healthcare is seeking an Interventional Radiology Rad Tech for a Neuro IR travel assignment in Rochester, NY. You will work 4x10-hour shifts with days, weekends, and on-call/callback as required by the unit, and must live more than 30 miles from the facility.

Responsibilities include selecting exposure factors, positioning patients, and assisting the radiologist during procedures. Prior IR experience is preferred, and neurosurgery/neuroscience exposure is valued.

Qualifications

• Two years of radiology experience.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Valid NY Technician License.
• ARRT certification.
• Neurosurgery/Neuroscience experience preferred.
• VIR experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Select exposure factors, positioning, and produce diagnostic-quality radiographs.
• Collaborate with department staff to resolve issues promptly.
• Demonstrate patient care with compassion, respect, and accountability.
• Operate x-ray equipment, CR and DR systems and report malfunctions.
• Assist radiologist during procedures and prepare patients for exams.

Position Overview

• Type of Position: Travel
• Description: Interventional Radiology Rad Tech - Neuro IR
• Shift Details: 4x10-hour shifts, Days Weekends and holidays required per unit needs On-call/callback required per unit needs Call 1-2 times per week 1-2 weekends of call per month
• Interventional radiology experience is preferred
• The unit typically trains Rad Techs coming from other modalities for up to six months upon starting in Neuro IR Neurosurgery/Neuroscience experience is required

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competence in selecting exposure factors, positioning, and consistently produces radiologic images of diagnostic quality
• Works cooperatively with all members of the department to resolve problems expediently
• Displays flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when dealing with customers
• Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity for patients' rights in all interfaces with patients

Areas of Emphasis

• Administers oral contrast as needed per exam
• Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic examinations and assists the Radiologist during procedures
• Demonstrates competence and proficiency in operation of all x-ray equipment, CR and DR systems
• Reports equipment malfunctions to manager or lead
• Completes all assigned procedures in a timely manner and uses time between procedures to the department's advantage — assisting others, clerical duties, stocking, transporting, etc.
• Understands role in maintaining medication security to authorized personnel only
• Demonstrates competency in providing health care services in own job category to all age groups
• Demonstrates competency in interpersonal relationships with all age groups

Documentation / Information Management

• Demonstrates competency in the use of Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS
• Participates in hospital performance improvement activities (BPI projects, task forces, etc.) when warranted
• Demonstrates confidentiality using own password and all patient care modules
• Answers telephone inquiries of a technical nature from physicians or hospital personnel in other areas of the hospital while maintaining good phone etiquette

Requirements

• BLS certification (American Heart Association ONLY)
• Two (2) years of experience
• Valid Technician License in the state of NY
• ARRT certification

• Nice to Have Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) experience
