Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Radiology Tech to join the Imaging Team. You will perform X-ray, CT, and MRI procedures, ensure image quality, educate patients, and follow safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

The position is full-time with rotating shifts. Candidates must hold a state Radiologic Technologist license, a degree in Radiologic Technology, and ARRT certification or be registry eligible.

Qualifications

• Requires state Radiologic Technologist license and degree in Radiologic Technology.
• ARRT certification or registry eligible and maintain registry.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient history and physician orders; educates patient on procedures and exam.
• Prepares and administers contrast media within scope; monitors patient condition.
• Prepares equipment and imaging parameters; ensures safety and quality control; troubleshoots equipment.
• Positions patient and performs imaging; analyzes results and reports issues with image quality.
• Transmits and reports scan results.

How you'll contribute

A Radiology Tech who excels in this role:

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

What we're looking for
Applicants should have a current state Radiologic Technologist license and possess a degree from an approved course in Radiologic Technology. Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• Hospital training during two years of Radiologic Technologist program.
• Experience in other x-ray departments, clinics, or medical offices highly desired.
• Must be a member of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible and maintain registry once received.
• Desirable to belong to national, state and/or local societies.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
