Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center in Chesapeake, VA, seeks a Radiologic Technologist for a hybrid Radiology Tech and Bone Density Tech role. You will maintain high-quality patient care in Diagnostics, perform radiographs, and assist with contrast administration.

The candidate should be ARRT registered or eligible, BLS certified, and have completed an accredited radiologic technology program. On-call rotations and safety adherence are expected.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program.
• ARRT registered or registry eligible; must be registered within three months of employment.
• BLS certified.
• Experience preferred but new graduates are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality radiographs with proper positioning and technique.
• Administer contrast media per policy.
• Document orders and reactions in the RIS system.
• Enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, and credits in the hospital system.
• Review patient charts to confirm physician orders and follow protocols.
• Follow radiation safety and ALARA principles.
• Educate patients and families about exams, treatment, and outcomes.
• Perform preventative safety inspections and report issues.
• Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory to supervisor.
• Rotate on-call and perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Radiologist Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the Diagnostic Radiology department and throughout the organization.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Produce a variety of high-quality radiographs through proper positioning and technique
• Administer contrast media using proper technique and according to department policy
• Utilize assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions
• Utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, and/or credits
• Review patient's chart for confirmation of physician's orders and follows written and/or verbal protocols and instructions
• Follow department, NRG, and State policies and regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure
• "ALARA"
• Educate the patient, and family when necessary, regarding the exam, treatment, and outcome
• Performing visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel
• Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to appropriate supervisor
• Performing procedures as the schedule requires and rotate call
• Performing other duties as assigned
