Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to maintain high-quality patient care across the Diagnostic Radiology department. The role includes producing radiographs, administering contrast, and documenting orders and reactions in the hospital system.

The ideal candidate will be ARRT registered or registry eligible with BLS certification and must adhere to ALARA and safety regulations while educating patients and families about procedures.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology.
  • ARRT registered or registry eligible; must be registered within three months of employment.
  • Must be BLS certified.

Responsibilities

  • Produce a variety of high-quality radiographs through proper positioning and technique.
  • Administer contrast media using proper technique and according to department policy.
  • Utilize RIS to document contrast media reactions and paperwork.
  • Enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, and/or credits in the hospital system.
  • Review patient charts to confirm physician orders and follow protocols.
  • Follow radiation safety policies to keep exposure ALARA.
  • Educate patients and families about exams, treatment, and outcomes.

Job description

Summary

The Radiologist Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the Diagnostic Radiology department and throughout the organization.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Produce a variety of high-quality radiographs through proper positioning and technique

  • Administer contrast media using proper technique and according to department policy

  • Utilize assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions

  • Utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, and/or credits

  • Review patient's chart for confirmation of physician's orders and follows written and/or verbal protocols and instructions

  • Follow department, NRG, and State policies and regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure

  • "ALARA"

  • Educate the patient, and family when necessary, regarding the exam, treatment, and outcome

  • Performing visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel

  • Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to appropriate supervisor

  • Performing procedures as the schedule requires and rotate call

  • Performing other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling, when necessary, to ensure patient care


Supervisory Responsibilities


  • Reports to: The Operations Manager, though may also receive work from Radiologists, the Administrative Director of Radiology, and the Senior and Clinical Leads

  • Supervises: None

Education And Experience


  • Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology

  • Preferred Education: N/A

  • Experience: Previous experience as a registered technologist is preferred, but will accept a new graduate


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Applicants must be ARRT registered or registry eligible; applicants who are registry eligible must be registered within three months of employment. Must be BLS certified.
