Job Title: Xray Technician (PRN, Varied Hours/Shifts)

Job Summary
The Radiology Technologist performs x‑ray scans of patients’ internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. Executes radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and provides consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals. Delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures.
Responsibilities
- Interact with co‑workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Appropriately position radiographic equipment or x‑ray film to produce images with necessary detail or contrast to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
- Explain radiographic procedure to the patient, obtain complete and accurate history relevant to the examination to be performed.
- Communicate effectively with the patient.
- Provide staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards, including placement of shields/aprons to limit radiation exposure.
- Implement and monitor local, state and national regulations, standards, requirements and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services.
- Maintain x‑ray equipment by performing scheduled cleaning/tests and document results.
- Maintain and update patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy; handle patient records while maintaining confidentiality.
- Perform other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor or manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control.
- Maintain continuing education required for licenses and job positions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R); ARRT (R), (CT) Preferred.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Knowledge of RIS systems.
- Knowledge of PACS systems.
- BLS Required.
- License as required by state.
