Job summary

Atrium Health’s Radiology department is seeking a student in Radiologic Technology to assist imaging technologists with preparation of patients and exam rooms. You will verify patient identity, gather clinical history, and help transfer patients while following infection control practices.

You will learn to operate radiology information systems, review orders, and document images in RIS/PACS under supervision, gaining hands-on experience in Chest, Abdomen, Spine and Pelvis imaging.

Qualifications

• Must have good communication and patient care skills.
• Completion of a minimum of 12 months training in an accredited Radiology program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and exam rooms prior to imaging and assist during imaging procedures.
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers and obtain clinical history.
• Assist patients in preparation for exams and transferring to/from exam rooms; independently transport patients.
• Use radiology information systems to generate requisitions, check schedules, and obtain patient information.
• Review patient records and ensure exam accuracy; position patients and select exposure factors under supervision; document images timely in RIS/PACS.
• Ensure patient safety and age-appropriate care; adhere to infection control practices.
