Job summary

Carson Valley Health is seeking a Radiology Tech for CVH Urgent Care on a per diem basis. The role requires ARRT certification (RT(R)) with 90 days to obtain, NV radiology license, and current BLS. Per diem status adds 15% to the hourly rate with an as-needed schedule.

You will independently perform diagnostic radiology exams under supervision, operating x-ray, fluoro, portable x-ray and c-arm equipment while maintaining ALARA standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• NV State radiology license required.
• ARRT RT(R) certificate required; must obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate x-ray, fluoro, portable x-ray and c-arm equipment; perform routine exams safely.
• Select technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs; adhere to ALARA standards.
• Transfer patient to imaging table; explain procedure and position patient per protocol.
• Review requests and ensure correct exam is performed; verify patient history and chart data.
• Read requisitions and physician referrals; communicate findings appropriately.
• Perform equipment warm-ups and QC; report malfunctions to Imaging Services Manager.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Equipment

• Competently operate x-ray, fluoro, portable x-ray and c-arm equipment while performing all routine exams in a safe and optimal manner.
• Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, operating suites and at the patient's bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (As low as reasonably achievable) standards.
• Understands and is able to utilize all x-ray rooms in main department.
• Understands and is able to utilize operating room and x-ray equipment.
• Understands and is able to utilize x-ray portables in the main hospital.
• Process films and review for overall quality.
• Perform required warm-ups and equipment QC. Report all malfunctions to Imaging Services Manager, and service provider.

Patient Care

• Transfer patient to imaging table, explain procedure and position patient according to protocol. Select optimal radiographic technique and obtain established routine views.
• Receives and reviews requests for radiologic studies.
• Reads requisition and physician's referral sheet to assure correct exam is performed.
• Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure.
• Speaks with patient to ascertain pertinent history associated with requested exam.
• Checks patient chart, if available, to make sure correct exam is ordered.
• Uses practical knowledge of anatomy for proper positioning to obtain maximum diagnostic information, as evidenced by film taken.
• Refers to exam guidelines for necessary views.
• Reads exam requests to determine area of interest.
• Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly and safety position patient for maximum diagnostic yield.
