Job summary

Carson Valley Health is seeking a Radiology Tech to perform diagnostic x-ray exams under the direction of the Imaging Services Manager. The role requires ARRT RT (R) certification and NV state licensure, with BLS preferred, and emphasis on patient safety and high-quality imaging.

The position duties include operating x-ray and fluoroscopy equipment, reviewing exam requests, and ensuring ALARA standards while working with staff across departments. On-site, full-time role with varying shift times.

Qualifications

  • Graduate radiologic technologist with ARRT credentialing; BLS recommended.
  • NV State radiology license required.
  • Current ARRT RT (R) certificate required; must obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic x-ray exams with minimal supervision.
  • Operate x-ray, fluoroscopy, portable x-ray and c-arm equipment for routine exams.
  • Maintain safe image quality and adhere to ALARA principles.
  • Review requests, verify exam type and coordinate with physicians and staff.
  • Explain procedures to patients and position them according to protocol.

Radiology Tech - Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

At the administrative direction of the Imaging Services Manager, independently perform diagnostic x-ray exams with minimal supervision.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education
  • Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program.
License Required
  • NV State radiology license required.
Certificate Required
  • Current ARRT – American Registry Radiologic Technologist certificate required; RT (R). (Must obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Current BLS certification.
Minimum Work Experience
  • Ability to communicate with employees, physicians, patients and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Equipment
  • Competently operate x-ray, fluoro, portable x-ray and c-arm equipment while performing all routine exams in a safe and optimal manner.
  • Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, operating suites and at the patient's bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (As low as reasonably achievable) standards.
  • Understands and is able to utilize all x-ray rooms in main department.
  • Understands and is able to utilize operating room and x-ray equipment.
  • Understands and is able to utilize x-ray portables in the main hospital.
  • Process films and review for overall quality.
  • Perform required warm-ups and equipment QC. Report all malfunctions to Imaging Services Manager, and service provider.
Patient Care
  • Transfer patient to imaging table, explain procedure and position patient according to protocol. Select optimal radiographic technique and obtain established routine views.
  • Receives and reviews requests for radiologic studies.
  • Reads requisition and physician's referral sheet to assure correct exam is performed.
  • Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure.
  • Speaks with patient to ascertain pertinent history associated with requested exam.
  • Checks patient chart, if available, to make sure correct exam is ordered.
  • Uses practical knowledge of anatomy for proper positioning to obtain maximum diagnostic information, as evidenced by film taken.
  • Refers to exam guidelines for necessary views.
  • Reads exam requests to determine area of interest.
  • Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly and safety position patient for maximum diagnostic yield.
