Job summary

Dignity Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist in Bakersfield to perform and assist with a variety of diagnostic imaging exams including X-rays, CT, MRI, and fluoroscopy. The role emphasizes accurate imaging, proper patient identification, and careful radiation safety practices in a busy hospital environment.

You will engage with radiologists and patients daily, maintain room readiness, and ensure high-quality images with correct labeling.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or GED is required.
  • Licensure and certifications listed for CA radiography and radiology tech.
  • Multiple ARRT/ARRT-aligned licenses may be required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of imaging exams including X-rays, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, CT, and MRI.
  • Prepare rooms, equipment, and supplies for examinations.
  • Ensure correct patient identification and accurate labeling of images.
  • Maintain infection control, radiation safety, and equipment function.
  • Communicate with patients and staff using AIDET and professional tone.
  • Monitor and stock supplies; report equipment issues to supervisor.
  • Assist with proper shielding and dose optimization during imaging.

As our Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech), you will be pivotal in producing diagnostic images that enable Radiologists to accurately diagnose and manage patient conditions.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech), you will be pivotal in producing diagnostic images that enable Radiologists to accurately diagnose and manage patient conditions. Every day you will perform a variety of imaging examinations, including X-rays, ultrasound, diagnostic fluoroscopy, CT/CAT scans, and MRIs, while actively contributing to a positive patient experience through direct interaction. To be successful in this role, you will deeply understand diagnostic imaging's critical importance, encompassing expertise in workflow, patient positioning, and capturing precise results essential for timely and accurate diagnoses.

  • Technologist will perform quality procedures and radiographs using the appropriate department routine. Must be able to perform all examinations using all the general radiographic equipment including portables and OR radiographic equipment. Selects and uses proper immobilization and supportive devices when necessary.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the different views associated with each exam. Uses the correct markers and labels all films correctly. Must mark and label exams correctly. Ensures initials are on all images. Responsible to make sure all exams display the patient name.
  • Prepares the room, equipment and supplies as dictated by the particular examination or patient need. By end of shift room assignment must be stocked and cleaned. Responsible to call for service if equipment is down and unable to reach Supervisor.
  • Responsible to let the Supervisor know when they are getting low on a particular supply. Verifies correct patient using two patient identifiers. Follows standard patient identifier of name and date of birth. Evaluates patient condition to see if they are capable of answering questions necessary for proper identification.
  • Involves patient family members when needed for proper identification. Demonstrates awareness of radiation safety for patients, self and co-workers. Will not exceed radiation exposure limit for calendar year as stated in Title 17. Must demonstrate on images that correct shielding was used on the patients. Responsible to check the Radiation Film Badge report.
  • Exhibits and demonstrates good communication skills with patients, family members, co-workers and hospital staff. No negative feed-back. Ensures patient or family member understands procedure. Adopts AIDET program to ensure quality patient care. Responsible that images reflect ability to compensate for age of the patient.

  • Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT or
  • Registered Technologist Bone Densitometry or
  • Registered Technologist Computed Tomography or
  • Registered Technologist Cardio Interventional Radiography or
  • Registered Technologist Mammography, upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Magnetic Resonance Imaging or
  • Registered Technologist Nuclear Medicine Technology or
  • Registered Technologist Quality Management or
  • Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy or
  • Registered Technologist Vascualr Inteventional Rad or
  • Registered Technologist Vascular Sonography
Preferred
  • Previous experience in Diagnostic Radiology
