Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA seeks a Radiology Support Technician to assist patients and staff in the Radiology department. Performs clerical and non-technical duties, assists with patient positioning and transport, and ensures accurate scheduling and communications.

The role emphasizes patient care, safety, and teamwork within a busy hospital setting. Experience with medical terminology, computer systems, and BLS are preferred; a high school diploma plus relevant training is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic office and patient care procedures.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and data entry.
• BLS certification required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient flow and prepares exams; relays information to relevant resources.
• Uses computer systems to verify patient information and prints daily schedules.
• Prepares rooms with equipment and supplies; assists technologists with procedures.
• Assists technologists on portable x-ray rounds and positioning.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to patient needs; assists with bathroom or bed transfers as required.
• Notifies Patient Transport and monitors flow to avoid delays; transports patients when needed.
• Confirms appointment times and provides campus location and registration guidance.
• Monitors and orders supplies; cleans cassettes and maintains equipment.
