Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Years of relevant experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in patient registration, scheduling, office, or a customer service role, using computers, required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages complex scheduling and coordination of Radiology appointment requests.
  • Knowledge of clinical criteria warranting Radiology orders and scheduling per Radiology guidelines.
  • Verify and ensure physician orders are received and written correctly per Radiology protocols.
  • Communicate STAT results to providers and patients while HIPAA compliant and patient-focused.
  • Gather registration information including demographics and insurance to expedite authorization and reimbursement.
  • Greet and register outpatients for appointments, including demographics and financial information, or schedule walk-ins.
  • Answer all incoming calls and facilitate communication with patients, families, physicians, and Radiology staff.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Summary:

Serves as first point of contact for coordinating Radiology Services for out-patients, internal and external providers and other clinical and support staff. As a team member, you will work to provide the best care and services, to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive patient experience, upholding the Akron Children's Hospital's culture and values.

Responsibilities:

1. Manages complex scheduling and coordination of services for Radiology appointment requests.

2. Responsible for knowledge and understanding of clinical criteria warranting specific Radiology orders, and scheduling according to the Department of Radiology guidelines.

3. Responsible for verifying and ensuring that all patients' physician orders are received, written and ordered correctly and in accordance with Radiology guidelines and protocols.

4. Ability to communicate STAT results to providers and patients, while maintaining HIPPA compliance and demonstrating sensitivity to the patients and families.

5. Gathers appropriate registration information, including demographic and insurance verification to expedite the Authorization/ Pre-Certification process and to achieve optimal reimbursement.

6. Greeting and registering outpatients for their appointments that includes gathering accurate demographic and financial information or scheduling of walk-in patients.

7. Answers all incoming calls and facilitates communication with, but not limited to: patients, patient families, physicians, physicians', office staff and all Radiology modalities involved.

8. Other duties as required.

Other information:

Technical Expertise
  1. Experience working with all levels within an organization is preferred.
  2. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  3. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient scheduling experience preferred.
  4. This position requires excellent communication skills.
