Job summary

Ellenville Regional Hospital is seeking an organized Radiology/Cardiology Scheduler Assistant to provide clerical support for patient scheduling and insurance requirements. You will coordinate with the Utilization Review team to obtain prior authorizations and communicate with patients, physicians, and staff.

Responsibilities include handling multi-modality scheduling, maintaining records, and ensuring accuracy of appointment instructions, while upholding HIPAA and conduct standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with patient scheduling, registration, medical terminology, insurance requirements, and prior authorization workflows.
• Office management experience.
• Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patient testing and procedures for Radiology and Cardiology; reviews orders and provides appointment instructions.
• Routes cases needing insurance prior authorization to the UR team.
• Tracks authorization status with UR and assists with scheduling changes when approvals are delayed.
• Answers phones, routes calls, and provides routine information with professionalism and speed.
• Maintains files and documents; records scheduling activity, changes, cancellations and communications.
• Coordinates urgent and STAT exams with Radiology/Cardiology and UR when approvals are needed.
• Keeps a clean, organized office; handles copies, filing, and faxing as appropriate.
• Assists in obtaining prior imaging studies, reports and records for scheduled exams.
• Supports compliance with HIPAA and Code of Conduct; performs other scheduling duties as assigned.
