Job Purpose or Mission
Coordinates and facilitates the compliance program and information systems of Imaging Services. Performs duties as appropriate to the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.
Job Functions
- Coordinates and schedules appropriate personnel to meet department needs.
- Adjusts staffing of professional, technical, radiological, nursing and support personnel to meet patient care/service delivery needs on a daily basis, based on patient flow.
- Coordinates daily activities of patient care areas to achieve and maintain established productivity and quality goals.
- Schedules and facilitates regular staff meetings within established timeframes.
- Manages departmental compliance program.
- Develops, updates and tracks adherence to unit-based standards of practice in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Conducts regular service delivery audits to identify opportunities and implement corrective action as needed, within established timeframes and goals.
- Conducts individual exam tracking issues for Imaging personnel, working with department management to correct identified issues.
- Establishes response strategy for service delivery issues and personally responds to critical situations as applicable, in accordance with established measures. Works with department management to facilitate training for Imaging personnel on planned responses.
- Works with other patient care personnel in the facility to improve service delivery.
- Proactively identifies enhancement, upgrade and/or expansion opportunities for compliance programs, by maintaining continuing education and knowledge of industry developments.
- Encourages and facilitates open communication within department to identify and resolve problems.
- Functions as departmental resource and ensures effective communication on exam charges, through advanced knowledge of same.
- Manages the Radiology Management System.
- Extracts accurate, reliable information from appropriate Imaging computer systems, according to established guidelines.
- Reviews and evaluates current charging practices within Imaging department and makes recommendations for changes/improvements as needed.
- Maintains computer systems and service needs, and recommends upgrades/modifications as needed to effectively manage patient charges and physician reporting.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Functions as departmental supervisor when assigned.
Experience Requirements
5 years clinical experience preferred.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's in health related field preferred.
Special Skill, License and Knowledge Requirements
- Current Louisiana State license to perform in the capacity of radiographer.
- Strong knowledge of JCAHO and other regulatory requirements for hospital Imaging program.
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Medical records without limitation both paper and electronic, patient demographics, lab and radiology results, patient information related to surgery or appointment schedules, information related to patient location, patients' religious beliefs, public health records, medical records related to quality/data, patient financial information, patient 3rd party billing, and patient-related complaints.
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps and linen, PPE, exposure control plans, hand washing, environment of care, patient identification, transports, monitors or observes patients for procedures, and monitors clinical alarms.
