Job description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing all aspects of patient exam activities in nuclear medicine at a technical level to produce high-quality images consistent with established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Specialize in performing diagnostic studies in nuclear medicine imaging.
  • Obtain patient history, explain standard procedures, and address patient concerns to foster comfort and confidence.
  • Operate and maintain all assigned nuclear scanning imaging equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Perform diagnostic studies including measuring and preparing concentrations of radioactive isotopes in specified body areas.
  • Properly identify, prepare, and administer medications/substances as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Complete quality assurance processes and practice radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self.
  • Maintain all required documentation, logs, charts, forms, and records in both paper and electronic formats.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of all consumables for quality testing.
  • Perform routine maintenance and function checks on all imaging equipment according to established protocols.
  • Assist other areas of radiology as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of nuclear medicine.
  • Registered in Nuclear Medicine with the ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • BLS certification is required.
