Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a radiographer to join a multimodality radiology team in Wisconsin. The role involves operating imaging equipment, positioning patients, and ensuring high-quality images while maintaining patient comfort and safety.

The ideal candidate holds ARRT radiography certification with CT credential within 12 months, is licensed in Wisconsin, and has 2–4 years hospital experience. BLS/CPR is required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
  • 2–4 years of radiography technologist experience required.
  • Experience in a hospital environment preferred.
  • ARRT registered in Radiography; CT credential within 1 year of hire.
  • WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin.

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains active status in the modalities in which they practice.

Assists the department coordinator by providing clinical leadership, completes projects, advanced level clinical duties and regular assignments as requested.

Is competent in all exams performed within the assigned modalities.

Corroborates patient clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by the radiologist.

Prepares the patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.

Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices, and accessories to successfully perform procedures.

Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort; immobilizes patient as necessary.

Practices aseptic technique as necessary, Prepares and administers contrast media as appropriate to procedures performed; starts and maintains intravenous access.

Initiates basic life support action when necessary.

Provides patient education.

Provides input for supply and equipment decisions, maintains control of inventory and supplies for assigned area.

Provides practical instruction for students and partners.

Observes universal protocol, standard precautions and appropriate patient identifiers.

Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.

Other duties, tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited radiography program

Two to four years of experience as a technologist as a Radiographer is required.

Experience in a hospital environment preferred

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

ARRT registered in Radiography required; the CT credential is required within a year of hire

WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin

BLS/CPR required within 90 days of hire

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).

Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.

Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Experience in working with radiologic technologists, radiologists and support staff in a multimodality department
  • Proficiency in mentoring employees and providing corrective action appropriately
  • Experience in obtaining departmental accreditation
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly and effective manner
  • Demonstrated ability to foster excellent teamwork in a radiology department
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

PAY RANGE

PAY RANGE: $35.85 - $53.77
