Job summary

Mercyhealth in Illinois and Wisconsin seeks an experienced CT Technologist to perform diagnostic CT procedures, administer contrast, and ensure patient safety. You will work with radiologists to select appropriate exams and provide patient education.

The role requires ARRT Radiography and CT registrations, 3–5 years of CT experience, and licensure for IL/WI where applicable. The department offers shift flexibility and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
  • 3–5 years of CT technologist experience.
  • ARRT Radiography and CT registrations required.
  • Illinois IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation if working in Illinois.
  • Wisconsin WI-DSPS radiographer license if working in Wisconsin.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT procedures and operate the CT scanner.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media as required.
  • Review clinical history with radiologist to confirm appropriate exam.
  • Provide patient education and post-procedure information.
  • Document procedures in EMR/PACS and maintain ALARA standards.
  • Support students and supervise radiology aides as needed.
  • Flex shifts, including weekends/holidays, to meet departmental needs.
  • Assist radiologist with interventional procedures and 3D reconstructions.

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs diagnostic Computed Tomography procedures and techniques.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media as appropriate to procedures performed;
  • Reviews patients' clinical history ensuring that appropriate scan is ordered and labs are within range - reviewing with radiologist and/or provider as necessary.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Provides practical instruction for students and partners
  • Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
  • Starts and maintains intravenous access, may include power injectable implanted ports and specialized lines
  • Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
  • Operates CT scanner and power injector to produce cross section images of patient anatomy for diagnostic purposes.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media orally and intravenous maintaining aseptic technique
  • Documents all information pertinent to CT procedure in electronic medical record to include medication reconciliation.
  • Ensures patients receive discharge information regarding exam to include patient letter and information
  • Flex to various shifts needed to support the department, may be required to flex up hours as needed to include weekends holidays and call
  • Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, submits images and data for physician review and interpretation.
  • Reports and documents CT safety incidents/ adverse events per protocol.
  • Assist with medical record/image sharing when necessary
  • Follows ALARA principles through accurate scan techniques and parameters
  • Assist radiologist with interventional procedures as needed
  • Utilizes associated workstation to produce post process imaging and 3D reconstructions as required per protocol
  • Adjust scan protocols/parameters as necessary for individual patient need
  • Clinical expertise in exams including but not limited to; CTA perfusion, cardiac CTA, and all other CTA exams
  • Instruction and expert level training to new technologists
  • Expert level knowledge of electronic medical record, PACS, and imaging equipment.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited radiography program

Minimum Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience as a CT Technologist required

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

ARRT Radiography registration required

ARRT Computed Tomography registration required

IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois

WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin

Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days

PAY RANGE:

$35.85 - $53.77
