Description:The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for patients for a designated timeframe.The position involves providing care in the Heart & Vascular Institute.The patient population consists of those requiring invasive cardiology or invasive radiology studies.This role includes assisting the physician in all procedures and providing valuable service to the patient and the team.

Essential Functions:Administers contrast material according to the physician's request.Recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab and pathology.Documents accurately and completely.Explains procedures to patients while ensuring comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.Informs procedural nurses of correct doses of intra-procedural medications.Performs on-call duties and/or works variable shifts as assigned.Performs all essential functions of the Radiologic Technologist.

Department-Specific Duties:Administers and withholds contrast and treatment as appropriate.Assesses patients for allergies.Handles peripheral vascular work.Manages venous central lines and tube changes.Participates in embolization work (venous and arterial).Handles venous thrombectomy work.Takes late shift duties as assigned.Experience with interventional neurology is preferred.Manages dialysis work, including AV fistulas and tunneled dialysis catheters.Handles tube access and changes (G-tube, chole, neph, biliary, abscess, SPC).Experience with neuro procedures is ideal.

Skills:Ability to maintain a sterile field during procedures.Can pull supplies for procedures.Experience in a procedural setting is preferred.
