Technologist performs diagnostic procedures including complex vascular and nonvascular interventional and therapeutic procedures.

The Interventional Radiology Technologist is intimately familiar with sterile procedures including preparation and maintaining a sterile field during procedures, adheres to standard precautions at all times, participates as a vital member of a multi-disciplinary care delivery team consisting of interventional radiologists, physician assistants, nurses, and technologists, and supports ambulatory care services.
Interventional Radiology Technologist Overview
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prepares patients for interventional procedures by confirming physician orders, verifying patient identities, and obtaining adequate medical histories to ensure the appropriateness of examinations/procedures and facilitate timely accurate diagnosis or treatment of the patient.
Performs diagnostic/therapeutic radiology procedures on all patient age groups.
Circulates within procedure room and procures all equipment needed for any given procedure. Maintains a sterile field during interventional procedures, following principles of aseptic technique, and adheres to standard precautions at all times.
Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors by requiring and supporting the establishment, maintenance, and education of an effective safety program.
Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level of population served. (as applicable)
