Altus Community Healthcare is seeking a Radiology Technologist in Waco, Texas. In this role, you will operate radiographic equipment to produce images for diagnostic purposes and administer contrast materials. You will also perform essential patient care duties such as starting IVs and drawing blood.
The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with at least 2 years of imaging experience. Strong attention to detail and proficiency with patient care tasks are essential.
The Radiology Technologist will operate radiographic equipment to produce radiographs of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the Physician in accordance with the Radiologist's accepted protocol. The technologist will also be proficient in positioning the patient and examination table to obtain optimum views of the specified area of the body requested by the physician. The technologist practices radiation safety techniques with the ALARA principle in mind, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to maximize radiation protection to patient and staff.
Each Radiology Technologist will operate CAT SCAN equipment to produce Computed Tomography (CT) scans of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the Physician in accordance with the Radiologist protocol. The technologist will be responsible for administering and consenting for contrast both IV and oral, while being aware of all possible reactions and side effects, and for filling out appropriate paperwork and ensuring proper documentation in the patients’ chart.
The technologist will also be responsible for additional patient care duties, including but not limited to: starting IVs, drawing blood, operating lab testing equipment and running patient samples, changing of beds, cleaning of rooms, and stocking linens.
