Description:This position involves providing healthcare services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment.The role requires performing radiographic procedures and related techniques to produce images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.The candidate will perform computed tomography and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.Professional judgment must be exercised in the performance of services while maintaining a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.The CT Tech must provide appropriate patient care and recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.Responsibilities include performing diagnostic radiography procedures and corroborating the patient's clinical history with the procedure, ensuring documentation is available for the licensed practitioner.The Tech will prepare patients for procedures and provide instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.The role involves selecting and operating radiography equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.Positioning of patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest while respecting patient comfort and ability is required.Immobilizing patients as necessary for appropriate examination is part of the duties.Determining radiographic technique exposure factors while minimizing exposure to the patient and others is essential.Evaluating images for technical quality and assuring proper identification is required.The Tech will verify informed consent for, and assist a licensed practitioner with, interventional procedures.Aseptic techniques must be practiced as necessary.The CT Tech assumes responsibility for the physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures.Preparing, identifying, and administering contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner is required, in accordance with state statutes and institutional policies.Initiating basic life support when necessary is also part of the role.Additionally, the candidate will assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography procedures.Agency nurses may be floated to other departments where they are qualified to perform patient care before core staff is floated.Specific duties related to computed tomography include operating Computed Tomographic equipment and accessories.Selecting appropriate programs for desired protocols and understanding methods to perform venipunctures is required.Image evaluation for technical quality while manipulating display parameters and maintaining archival storage of digitized data is part of the responsibilities.Maintaining knowledge of and observing universal precautions is crucial.Providing patient education is also a key aspect of the role.The employee supports the hospital's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.Participation in required education for applicable programs related to the position is expected.Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.
