Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Colorado is seeking a physician specialized in diagnostic imaging to lead the imaging service, oversee interpretation for adult Veterans, and provide mentorship to residents and staff.

Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship, or eligible non-citizens per VA policy.
  • Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school.
  • Full, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Residency training: completed an approved residency or qualifying post‑medical‑school training.
  • Board certification required to supervise residents.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Preferred: 3 years of imaging leadership experience or specialization in neuro‑, nuclear‑, MSK‑, or mammography.
  • Physical requirements: sedentary work, lift 15‑44 pounds, stand 3‑5 hours, drug testing; must meet physical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical imaging interpretation for adult Veteran patients.
  • Serve as principal clinical advisor; develop and direct the imaging service across all modalities and sites.
  • Perform consultative and mentorship duties for residents, fellows, and staff.
  • Ensure quality, fiscal responsibility, and process improvement; comply with federal and VA policies.
  • Maintain timeliness and accuracy of image interpretation; communicate findings to clinicians.
  • Educate residents and fellows through didactic and case‑centric lectures.
  • Participate in professional boards, committees, and presentations.
  • Provide on‑call coverage and other duties as assigned.
