In the past the department has been the recipient of NIH funded R01 and R21 grants, Mass Life Sciences and Worcester foundation grants.
  • Currently the following studies are ongoing:
  • A prospective trial, the first of its kind funded by Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BRCF) and in collaboration with MIT, evaluating a Mammogram based deep learning model and its impact on CDR in the population.

  • An ongoing study from a grant by the industry studying the feasibility of low dose MRI (enhanced by AI) and evaluating diagnostic non-inferiority compared to traditional dose MRI.
  • Based on a recent grant by the Mass Life Sciences Harnessing breast cancer screening for predicting cardiovascular (CV) disease in collaboration with industry partners and our cardiology division, we plan to quantify breast arterial calcifications using AI algorithms and study correlation with CV events. Subsequently, after reefing and developing this AI algorithm, we plan to prospectively implement this tool to establish clinical guidelines for breast arterial calcification (BAC) reporting.
