Job summary

Ochsner Health in Meridian, Mississippi is seeking a radiologic assistant to support a registered radiologic technologist with limited radiographic procedures, ensuring safety and accuracy in patient care.

You will prepare patients, maintain equipment, verify orders, and document information in our systems, following ALARA principles and applicable standards. Requires high school diploma, enrollment in Medical Imaging, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
• Knowledge of diagnostic radiology procedures and operation/maintenance of radiology equipment.
• Ability to safely operate radiology equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for visit by completing documentation, answering questions, and ensuring understanding of procedure.
• Cleans and prepares the examination room for next appointment.
• Verifies physician orders and procedures for accuracy to ensure provider is prepared for visit.
• Maintains radiographic equipment and work area to departmental standards.
• Performs radiology imaging adhering to LSBME standards and ALARA principle.
• Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards are met.
• Performs quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards in a timely manner and perform notification/remediation as necessary.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
