Job summary

Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, LA seeks a Radiology Assistant to greet patients, enter orders, assist CT technologists, and ensure medical necessity through physician coordination. Responsibilities include clerical duties, image handling, and patient transport.

Education: High school diploma; Medical office experience preferred; Medical terminology knowledge preferred. Excellent customer service and teamwork are essential to support radiology procedures and patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required or equivalent.
• Medical office experience preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer phone and follow through with requests.
• Fax Radiology reports as requested.
• Print images onto CDs.
• Receive patients in the waiting area.
• Ensure patients are prepped for procedures.
• Order tests in the computer system.
• Notify techs of tests ordered and patients waiting.
• Communicate wait or other issues with patients.
• Work overtime if a heavy workload arises.
• Cooperate with physicians.
• Be abreast of all PI, projects, and areas routinely monitored.
• Assist Tech Supervisor and Manager with projects when needed.
• Attend department meetings, hospital in-services.
• Assists in departmental orientation to new employees.
• Follow IMC Standards of Performance, Hospital Goals, Department Goals.
• Assist U/S Tech if a female attendant is needed.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
