Job summary

Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital in Beachwood, OH, invites you to join our Radiology team as a Radiology Assistant. You will support Radiology Technologists, screen patients, help prep exams, assist on/off imaging tables, stock rooms and ensure safe, efficient patient flow.

This role offers daytime shifts with rotating Saturdays. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, patient-care experience, strong customer service, and a willingness to learn in a Magnet-designated hospital.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of related experience in patient care or exemplary direct customer service.
  • Excellent customer service skills to interact with patients and families.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and families upon arrival in the Radiology area.
  • Escort patients to the x-ray room and assist with gowns and positioning.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety and maintain patient flow.
  • Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and equipment for each patient.
  • Assist in processing orders and tracking exams in the radiology system.
  • Assist staff with patient transport and routine daily living activities.

As a Radiology Assistant, you will provide a variety of services and support to patients and visitors of all ages, helping to maximize unit productivity and create an exceptional patient experience. Working alongside Radiology Technologists, you will screen patients, help them prepare for exams, assist patients onto and off imaging tables, stock exam rooms, maintain supplies, and support workflow throughout the department. You will also provide occasional assistance to CT staff and other imaging areas when patient lifting, or transport support is needed. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop and strengthen skills, especially for students pursuing a radiology program. Your support will play an important role in creating a positive first impression and setting the tone for each patient’s visit to the department.A caregiver in this role works days from 9:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and may be required to work approximately every other Saturday.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide a wide variety of patient services and assistance.
  • Greet patient/families upon arrival in the Radiology area.
  • Escort patient to the appropriate x-ray room and assist patient with gowns, assist in moving patient on and off x-ray table.
  • Ensure physical comfort and safety of the patient.
  • Maintain patient flow to maximize productivity of unit.
  • Assure x-ray rooms are clean and equipped with appropriate supplies and equipment for each patient.
  • Review x-ray requisition and computer exam forms to determine type of x-ray required.
  • Utilize CCF orders systems to place transport orders from radiology to floor and unit.
  • Notify transport of patients that radiology will bring to the department or return to the floor and unit.
  • Report to Supervisor immediately on backlog of patients or problems encountered with equipment, patients and personnel.
  • Perform clerical functions.
  • Process orders in radiology information system that include scheduling and tracking exams and films.
  • Process downtime orders and transport orders in the CCF electronic orders system.
  • Assist staff with patient related duties, moving and assisting patients to all areas as needed.
  • Assist patient with activity of daily living.
  • Perform routine duties related to patient care such as assisting with bedpans or in the washroom.
  • Assure patients safety and comfort.
  • Observe patients for medical status and potential need for nursing care, physician care, oxygen, etc. and quickly obtain proper assistance.
  • Perform courier functions as assigned.
  • Take films to appropriate area for film library processing and deliver films to requested areas.
  • Transport specimens to lab for processing.
  • Deliver charts as needed.
  • Establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relations with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • High school or equivalent
  • One year of related experience in physician office, hospital or clinic setting involving patient care or established excellence in direct customer service
  • Excellent customer service skills to interact with patients, families, physicians and staff
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Healthcare or medical background
  • One year of experience in healthcare
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time; must lift and carry items weighting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients, i.e., pushing beds, stretchers and wheelchairs.
  • Requires the ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $15.25
Maximum hourly: $22.25
