Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an enrolled BS/MS candidate in Nuclear Engineering to support shielding design calculations and radiological dose analyses for upgrades to existing nuclear power plants. You will work under senior engineers on multi-disciplinary teams, applying your coursework to practical design challenges and radiological assessments.

The role emphasizes MS Office proficiency, strong communication, and a willingness to learn new tools (MCNP, RADTRAD, MicroShield, ORIGEN, ARCON96)

Qualifications

  • Active enrollment in a BS/MS in Nuclear Engineering with strong radiological coursework
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Support shielding design calculations and radiological dose analyses on nuclear plant upgrade projects
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and multi-discipline teams to design and engineer modifications

You Will Work With a Multi-discipline Engineering Project Team Engaged In The Design And Engineering Of Upgrades And Modifications To Existing Nuclear Power Plants In The Following Areas.

  • Radiological dose calculations
  • Shielding design calculations
  • Radiation source term calculations

Working under the direction of senior engineers, this position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Radiological/Nuclear Engineering.

Essential Skills And Experience
  • This position requires active enrollment in a BS/MS in Nuclear Engineering with a strong academic background and coursework in radiological analysis
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Valued But Not Required Skills And Experience
  • Enrollment in an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program
  • Prior, related internship or co-op experience
  • Experience with some of the following programs:
    • MCNP
    • RADTRAD
    • MicroShield
    • ORIGEN
    • ARCON96

Compensation Range

$18.00 - $30.00
