Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT seeks an Emergency Planning Test Engineer to support the Radiological Emergency Planning Group. You will assist the ESHTB with maintaining a staffed, trained emergency response organization for EB Shipyard and SUBASE New London.

The role emphasizes coordinating exercises, evaluating performance, and engaging with regulators to ensure compliance, while enabling continuous improvement across ESH operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-5 years of experience in Environmental, Health, Safety or RERO ESH

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, assign and direct new and ongoing RERO efforts, including personnel assignment and certification, procedure development, team assessments, process surveillances and team training.
• Coordinate the safe execution of complex Shipyard and SUBASE radiological emergency exercises, develop and integrate scenarios that test each team’s response capabilities.
• Evaluate and assess RERO operations, identify performance deficiencies and develop, implement and track corrective actions.
• Monitor and report on RERO performance, generate metrics to help allocate resources and drive continuous improvement.
• Engage with regulatory and oversight agencies to demonstrate program compliance with Federal, State and company requirements.
• Support program outreach activities, engaging Federal, State and local emergency managers, police, fire departments, hospitals and regional nuclear power activities.
