Job summary

ASC Pty Ltd in Australia is seeking a Radiological Engineer for a long-term deployment overseas. The role involves oversight of radiological work on nuclear submarines, mentoring, and facilitating safe practices during maintenance.

To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking skilled trades individuals to undertake long-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.

Placements are available in February 2027 and will be approximately 84 months in duration.

Responsibilities

As a Radiological Engineer you will:

  • Provide independent oversight of radiological work which has been developed and planned by principal engineers
  • Assist in the development of engineering plans in the form of mentoring, training, identifying resources, and problem solving
  • Maintain the radiological status of the submarine and site to inform safe radiological practice during maintenance periods
  • Maintain a radiological control agreement between the site and the commanding officer of the submarine
  • Maintain relationship with submarine engineering department to provide guidance and advice as required
Eligibility Criteria

The successful applicant must possess:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (preferably Nuclear, Electrical, or Mechanical)
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles, techniques and practice of nuclear engineering such as reactor plant operations and radiological controls
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to explain complex engineering and radiological control concepts to others
  • Australian Citizenship
  • An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance
Additional Details

During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.

At the completion of your deployment, you willreturn to Western Australia (WA)to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines at HMAS Stirling.

Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
