Job summary

Think Whole Person Healthcare in Omaha, NE seeks an X-Ray Radiologic Technologist to provide expert diagnostic imaging and patient care. You will work with a team to deliver high-quality care and patient education, while maintaining safety and compliance with HIPAA and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an AMA approved radiologic technology program.
  • Completion of a JRCERT accredited radiology program.
  • Current ARRT-R Radiographer certification.
  • Must hold Nebraska Medical Radiographer License or Iowa Diagnostic Radiographer Permit.
  • BLS certification required upon hire.
  • Strong knowledge of radiographic positioning and exposure factors.
  • Experience with PACS/RIS preferred.
  • Ability to protect patient privacy per HIPAA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide radiological imaging and patient care to ensure high quality service.
  • Prepare room, equipment, contrast media, and supplies for procedures.
  • Perform routine diagnostic radiographic services per department protocols.
  • Be willing to learn new procedures and technologies.
  • Select proper exposure and parameters to obtain optimal images.
  • Interact with patients to address concerns and obtain consent.
  • Explain procedures to patients and families regarding radiology processes.
  • Protect patients and staff by using shielding and exposure reduction techniques.
  • Recognize conditions needing immediate action and assist life support if needed.
  • Comply with policies, regulatory requirements, OSHA, CMS, Joint Commission, and infection control.
  • Maintain patient and radiology records per HIPAA.
  • Complete required continuing education for imaging modalities and annual competency assessments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Role Summary

Provide expert diagnostic radiological imaging and patient care to assure a high level of quality care and service to patients, physicians and customers in and outside the radiology department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide radiological services by exemplifying the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform a variety of radiographic procedures utilizing ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis
  • Prepares room, equipment, contrast media, and supplies as necessary for each procedure.
  • Performs routine diagnostic radiographic services accurately and competently using predefined department protocols
  • Able to perform all procedures offered by the department and shows a willingness to learn new procedures and technology
  • Selects proper exposure and technical parameters into the x-ray generating systems to provide the optimum image
  • Interacts with the patient to address their concerns, obtain verbal permission to perform their examination, and respond to any needs stated or unstated by the patient
  • Provides patient education to patient and family by providing an explanation of procedures to be performed and radiology processes
  • Assumes responsibility for protection of patient and other persons involved in procedures, including utilizing radiation exposure reduction techniques such a proper collimation and lead shielding to minimize radiation exposure
  • Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and assists in providing immediate care for life support measures
  • Comply with all departmental and organizational policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, including OSHA, CMS, Joint Commission, and any other specific safety, security and infection control policies
  • Maintains patient and radiology electronic health records following HIPAA standards
  • Completes the required hours of continuing education in order to maintain certification in all assigned imaging modalities and completes annual clinical competency assessments
  • Perform other work assignments as required
Qualifications
  • Graduate of AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology or military training in Radiologic Technology
  • Completion of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited program in radiology
  • Current certification as a Radiographer ARRT-R from American Registry of Radiologic Technology
  • Must possess a Medical Radiographer License in NE or a Diagnostic Radiographer Permit in Iowa to practice, as a radiographer, license or permit must be held in the state which you practice
  • BL or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say “Professional Level-with AED”, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of human structure and function, radiographic positioning, selection of exposure factors, and preparation & administration of contrast media for routine and special radiographic procedures.
  • Experience with multi-dimensional medical imaging systems, patient transportation devices, and radiology information system and Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon completion of unit orientation required
  • Demonstrate utilization of knowledge and skills to meet age-specific needs of the patient population
