Position Summary

Demonstrate proficiency in the performance of all diagnostic and fluoroscopic examinations and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use and application of pediatric immobilization devices adhering to safety precautions.
  • Prepare or enter written documentation as required by the Department, such as informed patient consent, patient chart documentation, and other related duties.
  • Perform portable and operating room examinations in a timely and professional manner, observing sterile and aseptic techniques when necessary.
  • Check equipment supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
  • Assess the physical needs of the adult and geriatric patients.
  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize and address patients' fears and apprehensions about exams.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
  • Complete requested examinations in a timely manner, observing radiation safety standards.
  • Address the special needs of each age group served and assist in making reasonable accommodations for the hearing impaired, physically challenged or any other patients who may enter the Hospital.
  • Observe bio-safety and radiation safety rules and regulations.
  • Responsibilities and duties may be added, changed or deleted at any time at the discretion of the Assistant Director of Radiology or the Director of Radiology, either verbally or in writing.
  • Perform related duties in PACS.
  • Know and adhere to established hospital/department policies and procedures, including all aspects of safety.
  • Maintain and exhibit behavior that promotes patient confidence and trust.
  • Capable of working independently/unsupervised.
  • Rotation to weekend/holiday coverage as needed.
  • Rotation to all Article 28 off-sites.
Required Experience And Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a program in Radiologic Technology.
  • NYSDOH License Required.
  • ARRT Required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Computer knowledge preferred.

  • All Hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary.
  • This position may require the wearing of respirator protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.
  • This function/position may be designated as “essential.” This means that when the Hospital is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and related facilities.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience.

Pre‑Employment Requirements

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Complete a pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Employee Health Services.
  • Complete an electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen.
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre‑employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

  • The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.
