Job summary

Javon Bea Hospital is seeking a radiologic technologist to perform diagnostic imaging at night, including portable and fluoroscopic procedures. The role emphasizes patient safety, ALARA principles, and collaboration with radiologists and the clinical team.

You will operate imaging equipment, document results, and educate patients as needed. Qualified candidates should have ARRT registration, graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program, and be prepared for night shifts and on-site

Qualifications

  • ARRT Radiography registration required; CPR/BLS certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic radiographic imaging including portable, C-arm, fluoroscopic and specialty exams.
  • Operates imaging equipment and processes images for physician review.
  • Maintains ALARA principles and radiation safety for patients and staff.
  • Documents procedures and ensures proper patient positioning and comfort.
  • Coordinates with radiologists and clinical team for quality patient care.

Job description

OVERVIEW

Performs diagnostic radiographic imaging, including portable, C-arm, fluoroscopic, and special X-ray procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and proper radiation protection. Operates imaging equipment, positions and educates patients, processes and documents images, and collaborates with radiologists and other clinical team members to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs diagnostic radiographic, portable, c-arm Reviews patients’ clinical history ensuring that appropriate order placed and labs are within range as needed- reviewing with radiologist as necessary Provides patient education.
  • Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices and accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Initiates basic life support when necessary.
  • Determines radiographic technique and exposure factors.
  • Follows ALARA principles through accurate exposure factors and radiographic techniques.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Reports and documents XR safety incidents/ adverse events per protocol.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, submits images and data for physician review and interpretation.
  • Assist with medical record/image sharing as necessary.
  • Documents all information pertinent to XR/FL procedure in electronic medical record to include medication reconciliation Provides practical instruction for radiography students and partners.
  • Applies principles of patient safety during procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
  • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
  • Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Prepares contrast media and assists in administration.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology One (1) to Three (3) years experience preferred Will consider new graduates

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE

ARRT Radiography registration required IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).
  • Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.
  • Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Equipment- moving (pushing and pulling) portable imaging equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

Works independently with limited direct supervision.

SUPERVISES

Provides clinical supervision of allied health students and radiology aides.

PAY RANGE

$27.17 - $40.75
