Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic and fluoroscopic studies under the direction of a Radiologist. You will ensure film quality, patient safety, and education for staff and students.

The role requires ARRT registration and an Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Radiology or Healthcare, with extensive radiology experience. Schedule includes Friday, Saturday & Sunday 7a-7p at Nash Hospitals.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Current ARRT registration.
  • 10 years healthcare radiology experience with an Associate Degree.
  • 5 years experience with a Bachelor’s in Radiology or Healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Produce radiographs and fluoroscopic studies as directed by physicians.
  • Ensure patient safety and radiation protection.
  • Provide patient support and education.
  • Coordinate with physicians and nursing staff.
  • Operate and maintain radiology equipment and film processors.
  • Document results to patient records.
  • Educate staff and students on radiologic procedures.
  • Participate in quality control and quality improvement.
  • Support department operations and related clerical tasks.

Summary

Produces radiographic and diagnostic studies under the clinical direction of a Radiologist. Takes responsibility for film quality, patient care, safety, sterile technique and providing education for staff and students. Participates in other necessary activities in support of departmental operations. Operate radiology and fluoroscopic equipment to make clinical diagnostic x-ray films as directed by physicians. Operate C-arm and other equipment in Operating Room (OR) to assist with surgical cases

Responsibilities
  • Produces routine and specialized, portable and surgical radiographs and specialized studies to include, but not limited to: bone survey, peg placement and scoliosis series.
  • Applies radiation safety guidelines and patient protection guidelines.
  • Provides emotional support, comfort, general assistance and information to patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care based on the age of the patients served.
  • Coordinates or collaborates with physicians and nursing staff.
  • Operates and maintains radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, film processors, computers and other departmental equipment.
  • Documents to the patient record.
  • As assigned, provides instruction in the basic theory, technical skills, and application of radiologic procedures to other employees, new employees and students.
  • Participates in quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
  • Performs clerical, darkroom, film processing, patient transportation and other miscellaneous functions in support of operations.
Other information
  • Graduate ofan accredited school or program of Radiologic Technology.
  • Current Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • 10 years of Healthcare/Medical Radiology (Imaging and Therapy) experience with Associate Degree
  • 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's in Radiology or Healthcare
