Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic and diagnostic studies under the clinical direction of a Radiologist. You will ensure film quality, patient safety, and participate in staff and student education.

Operate radiology and fluoroscopic equipment and collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to support department operations in a fast-paced setting. This full-time onsite role requires ARRT registration and relevant radiology experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited program of Radiologic Technology.
  • Current ARRT registration with appropriate state licensure if applicable.
  • 10 years of Healthcare/Medical Radiology experience with Associate Degree.
  • 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's in Radiology or Healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Produces routine and specialized radiographs including portable and surgical studies.
  • Applies radiation safety guidelines and patient protection guidelines.
  • Provides emotional support and information to patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge to provide care based on patient age.
  • Coordinates or collaborates with physicians and nursing staff.
  • Operates and maintains radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment and related devices.
  • Documents to the patient record.
  • Instructs staff and students in basic radiologic procedures.
  • Participates in quality control and quality improvement activities.
  • Performs clerical, darkroom, film processing, patient transportation and other tasks.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Radiology or Healthcare
Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology

Summary

Produces radiographic and diagnostic studies under the clinical direction of a Radiologist. Takes responsibility for film quality, patient care, safety, sterile technique and providing education for staff and students. Participates in other necessary activities in support of departmental operations. Operate radiology and fluoroscopic equipment to make clinical diagnostic x-ray films as directed by physicians. Operate C-arm and other equipment in Operating Room (OR) to assist with surgical cases

  • Applies radiation safety guidelines and patient protection guidelines.
  • Provides emotional support, comfort, general assistance and information to patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care based on the age of the patients served.
  • Coordinates or collaborates with physicians and nursing staff.
  • Operates and maintains radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, film processors, computers and other departmental equipment.
  • Documents to the patient record.
  • As assigned, provides instruction in the basic theory, technical skills, and application of radiologic procedures to other employees, new employees and students.
  • Participates in quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
  • Performs clerical, darkroom, film processing, patient transportation and other miscellaneous functions in support of operations.
Other Information
  • Graduate of an accredited school or program of Radiologic Technology.
  • Current Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • 10 years of Healthcare/Medical Radiology (Imaging and Therapy) experience with Associate Degree
  • 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's in Radiology or Healthcare
