Job summary

Nash UNC Health Care is seeking a Radiologic Technologist II to perform radiographic studies under the supervision of a Radiologist. Responsibilities include film quality, patient care, safety, and education for staff and students.

The Technologist will operate radiology and fluoroscopic equipment to obtain diagnostic X-rays, participate in quality control, and support departmental operations. Must be graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program and ARRT registered.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school or program of Radiologic Technology.
• Current ARRT registration.
• Current BCLS certification.
• 2 years of Healthcare/Medical - Radiology experience.

Responsibilities

• Produces routine and specialized radiographs (bone survey, peg placement, scoliosis series).
• Applies radiation safety and patient protection guidelines.
• Provides emotional support, comfort, and information to patients.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care based on patient age.
• Coordinates or collaborates with physicians and nursing staff.
• Operates and maintains radiology and fluoroscopic equipment and related systems.
• Documents in the patient record.
• Instructs staff and students on radiologic procedures.
• Participates in quality control, QA, and quality improvement activities.
• Performs clerical, darkroom, film processing, and patient transport tasks.

Summary

The Radiologic Technologist II produces radiographic and diagnostic studies under the clinical direction of a Radiologist while takeing responsibility for film quality, patient care, safety, sterile technique and providing education for staff and students. In addition, the Technologist will participate in other necessary activities in support of departmental operations. The Radiologic Technologist II will operate radiology and fluoroscopic equipment to make clinical diagnostic x-rays films as directed by physicians.

Responsibilities

• Produces routine and specialized, portable and surgical radiographs and specialized studies to include, but not limited to: bone survey, peg placement and scoliosis series.
• Applies radiation safety guidelines and patient protection guidelines.
• Provides emotional support, comfort, general assistance and information to patients.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care based on the age of the patients served.
• Coordinates or collaborates with physicians and nursing staff.
• Operates and maintains radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, film processors, computers and other departmental equipment.
• Documents to the patient record.
• As assigned, provides instruction in the basic theory, technical skills, and application of radiologic procedures to other employees, new employees and students.
• Participates in quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
• Performs clerical, darkroom, film processing, patient transportation and other miscellaneous functions in support of operations.

Other information

• Graduate of an accredited school or program of Radiologic Technology.
• Current registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• Current BCLS certification.
• 2 years of Healthcare/Medical - Radiology (Imaging and Therapy) experience
