Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to provide direct patient care and perform diagnostic imaging under supervision of a Senior Radiologic Technologist and a Radiologist.

The role requires travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton to support operations and provides fluoroscopy, C‑ARM, portable exams and general radiology procedures within department policies.

Qualifications

• Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Senior Radiologic Technologist, provides direct patient care services and other related functions in support of the department. Performs independently within scope of department policies. Clinically works at the direction of a qualified Radiologist.

• Travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton as scheduled to provide operational, administrative, or departmental support.
• The float requirement only applies to newly hired staff at UMass Memorial Nashoba Valley.

Major Responsibilities

• Properly perform all diagnostic and fluoroscopic radiologic techniques and examinations, consistent with the age of the patient, within in-patient or outpatient settings, in compliance with departmental and professional standards and protocols.
• Gather pertinent clinical data and maintain accurate patient records.
• Accurately complete all exams, paperwork and submit promptly.
• Position and transfer patients appropriately.
• Assist physicians with interventional exams.
• Promptly and properly complete exams and appropriately perform QA on images, then send exams to PACS for review by the radiologist.
• Assist in maintaining an orderly inventory.
• Provide radiological technology skills to perform all exams including portables, Emergency Department work, C‑ARM, fluoroscopy, and general radiology procedures.
• Assist with any other job‑related duties including film hanging, office duties and discrepancy documentation and follow‑up.

Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education:

• Graduate of an accredited radiological program.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
• Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Experience/Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced setting, collaborating with peers to produce optimum results.
• Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and families.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Physical Demands And Environmental Conditions

Constantly: Working indoors, precise hearing required, and precise vision required; lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling – less than 10 pounds.

Frequently: Standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching, grasping.

Often: Sitting, bending, kneeling, performing repetitive movements, high level of stress, precise motor skills required; lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling – 10 pounds to over 100 pounds.

Never: Climbing, balancing, crawling, working outdoors, working in temperature extremes, and working at heights.
